Our Mackintosh course is a True Parkland par 72 course

The course gets its name from past Cottrell resident, Alfred Donald Mackintosh of Mackintosh the 28th Chief of Clan Mackintosh and Chief of Clan Chattan. Living at Cottrell until his death in 1938, Mackintosh made his Welsh seat a centre of lavish entertainment and social gatherings.

A True Parkland par 72 course with mature trees up to 300 years old. The Mackintosh provides 6637 challenging yards off the Championship Tees and is designed around the original features of the historic parkland. This well constructed course includes four Par 5’s, four Par 3’s and ten Par 4’s making the Mackintosh a testing but enjoyable walk.

Golfing tips & information

Par 5 | White tee 502 yards SI 13 | Yellow tee 473 yards SI 13 | Red tee 402 yards SI 12

Good looking Par 5 and not over difficult for a starting hole however a narrow entrance to the green. Handy tip – have a walk up to the top of the hill to see where to place your next shot.

Par 4 | White tee 383 yards SI 4 | Yellow tee 350 yards SI 3 | Red tee 299 yards SI 10

Sharp dog leg to the right the key to this hole is get the drive in the right area, aiming for the tree on the left (200yds) which will set you up with an open second shot to a straight forward green. Handy tip – if you feel you can’t reach the tree on the left then play short to the 150yd marker on the right and send your second shot over the trees.

Par 4 | White tee 425 yards SI 1 | Yellow tee 425 yards SI 1 | Red tee 366 yards SI 2

Hardest hole and long! It sweeps from right to left. If you’re long off the tee you have a chance of reaching in two. Handy tip – use your handicap wisely.

Par 3 | White tee 162 yards SI 15 | Yellow tee 159 yards SI 16 | Red tee 111 yards SI 18

Good little hole semi blind on the left side of the green and a large bunker on the right side of the green, with a banking on the left you may get a members bounce! Handy tip – it's usually one club more than you think.

Par 4 | White tee 405 yards SI 9 | Yellow tee 389 yards SI 6 | Red tee 319 yards SI 8

A sweeping uphill hole slightly dog legged from right to left which plays its length, similar to the 3rd hole it all about getting a good drive away. Handy tip – again, use your handicap wisely.

Very good hole, fairly long Par 5 trees either side playing down in to a valley and up to an elevated green. Handy tip – aim for the fairway marker post.

Par 4 | White tee 386 yards SI 11 | Yellow tee 348 yards SI 11 | Red tee 311 yards SI 4

A sharp dog leg from left to right playing a second shot over trees to the green. Handy tip – don’t get too close to the trees. Therefore, use a club off the tee that gives you room to play over the trees.

Par 3 | White tee 157 yards SI 17 | Yellow tee 147 yards SI 18 | Red tee 129 yards SI 14

Playing from an elevated tee with the green well below it is a scenic hole with bunkers left and right. Handy tip – always plays the same length as the 4th hole regardless to any yardage difference.

Par 4 | White tee 401 yards SI 5 | Yellow tee 381 yards SI 5 | Red tee 360 yards SI 6

A long lovely driving hole playing up to the brow of the hill and then a long second shot to an elevated green. Handy tip – unless you can drive to the top of the hill, use your handicap wisely.

A sweeping dog leg to the left, a good drive needed to the brow of the hill, then leaves a great looking shot into the green. Handy tip – aim for the fairway marker!

Par 4 | White tee 319 yards SI 14 | Yellow tee 284 yards SI 14 | Red tee 235 yards SI 12

A shorter par 4 however tricky, you need to get to the top of the hill with the drive which then leaves a simple shot in. Handy Tip – Keep out of the trees on the right.

Par 3 | White tee 167 yards SI 16 | Yellow tee 136 yards SI 16 | Red tee 126 yards SI 14

All the way up hill to a blind green, the green is in a basin so a members bounce always helps. Handy Tip – One club more than you think.

Par 5 | White tee 515 yards SI 6 | Yellow tee 486 yards SI 6 | Red tee 486 yards SI 2

A great par 5 all to be seen off the tee, the tricky decision is whether to go over the pond in the middle of the fairway with your second shot or layup. Handy tip – lay up before the pond and this will leave you a simple 120yd shot in!

A shortish severe dog leg hole to the right and uphill, the green is set back however a straight forward second shot. Handy tip – aim for the fairway marker off the tee.

Par 3 | White tee 186 yards SI 12 | Yellow tee 159 yards SI 12 | Red tee 132 yards SI 18

A long hole all the way down hill, playing to a welcoming green, great views. Handy tip – it's further than you think!

Par 4 | White tee 343 yards SI 10 | Yellow tee 334 yards SI 10 | Red tee 318 yards SI 6

Recently redesigned, this hole is a good test of golf. Two lakes on the left and then playing over a bunker in front of the green. Handy tip – aim for the conifer copse on the right.

Par 5 | White tee 512 yards SI 4 | Yellow tee 495 yards SI 4 | Red tee 405 yards SI 8

A long hole with trees all the way on the right and out of bounds on the left, the green is surrounded by bunkers, this is a good test. Handy tip – the tee pushes you right so aim left!

Super finishing hole, long and with a lake on the right side of the green.
